There are certain things we should do to our car’s to start preparing for the inevitable cold that comes with winter. Top off your fluid levels and change the weight of the oil in preparation for those cold winter month, if you need to. However, it’s important that we take the steps to prepare old faithful for whats coming, sooner than later.
Check Your Battery
Your battery shouldn’t be on its last legs right before it gets cold. Check it and make sure it’s still good enough to last you through the winter. Your battery needs to have a lot of life left in it to have the power to start on a cold winter morning. Get your battery checked at the turn of the season before it gets too cold.
Top Your Fluid Levels
All your fluid levels should be at their maximum level. Top them off if they aren’t. In fact, it’s very important that you don’t forget to check your antifreeze. This is particularly important on those days where the temperatures are below freezing. Make sure you leave no stone unturned. You can do all these things on your own. You won’t need a lubrication system company.
Tires, Lights, Wipers
It’s extremely important that your tires are in good condition prior to the winter. If your tread is less than 3/32-inches in depth, it’s time to get new tires. However, take a close look at your tires. If the wear is uneven you may need to get an alignment or have them balanced. Uneven wear can be damaging to your tires. Your lights and wipers should be inspected as well. If your wiper blades have seen better days, change them. In addition, all of your lights should be in good working order. Your hazards, low and high beams should be functional in case you need them.
Preparing your car for the winter is a necessary step if you want it to continue to perform the way it should. The cold months place different demands on our cars and it behooves us to prepare for this onslaught caused by the cold seasons. Make sure all your preventative maintenance is up to date. Check your fluid levels and your battery. Your wipers and lights should be in optimal condition too. Do everything you can to prepare for the coming winter. Your car will thank you later.
